All-Star Symphonic Rock Christmas Project Ragnarok Juletide coming November 17th
Album to be released by Spinefarm Records
PLUS. First single We Celebrate At Christmastime revealed https://soundcloud.com/spinefarmer/ragnarok-juletide-we-celebrate-at-christmastime
There was a time when Christmas songs and albums were works of genuine quality; a celebration of a time of year supposed to bring a smile rather than a scowl… Well, that’s certainly the inspiration behind ‘Ragnarok Juletide’ – an ambitious outing put together by a stellar line-up of singers & musicians, set for release via Spinefarm Records on November 17th.
Already a10-yearsuccess in Finland under the ‘Raskasta Joulua’ (‘Heavy Christmas’) banner, this all-star symphonic project has now been given a fresh title and a more international flavour, with English vocals added and the choice of singers streamlined – these now include Elize Ryd from Amaranthe, Marco Hietala from Nightwish, Tarot & Northern Kings, Tony Kakko from Sonata Arctica & Northern Kings and Antti Railio (2013 ‘Voice Of Finland’ winner).
The choice of material is traditional, but that’s just where the story starts, as the combination of A-list Finnish musicians plus vocalists who can really deliver the goods constantly adds new dimensions and emotions – not to mention a twist that is both dramatic and metallic. The result is a record that can be appreciated either as a stirring celebration of the season of goodwill, a body of work fit to melt the most Scrooge-like of sensibilities, or as an entertaining, multi-flavoured rock album capable of standing on musical merits alone.

"It's amazing that this project has grown to such epic proportions," says founder/producer/arranger/guitarist Erkka Korhonen. "Every year has been more successful for us, and now the tour is one of the biggest annual treks in Finland."
Indeed, this year the RJ tour is set to run for more than a month, playing to full arenas and ice stadiums in Finland, and UK dates are currently being discussed (it’s yet to be determined if the ‘no snow, no show’ rule will apply)…
"Even people who haven't celebrated Christmas for years have found its spirit again through what we do,” continues Korhonen. “Since we've expanded the line-up of vocalists every year, the audience now wants to hear our new singers on the record. It'll be fantastic to bring these songs into other countries, too!”

“The California alt rockers’ third time around is indeed charmed, as Back To Oblivion backs up the band’s 2012 reunion with a dozen melodically and dynamically diverse tracks” - Revolver
“[Anywhere But Here] is a characteristic blend of over-sized sweeping hooks, corrosive screaming, and gritty riffing” – BULLETT Media
“..it's apparent that the years away have taught Finch the value of restraint, texture and the opportunity of colour.” – Drowned In Sound

The Southern California band has undeniably created a lasting, formidable body of work with the two studio albums and EPs preceding Back To Oblivion - singer Nate Barcalow acknowledges that 2002’s What It Is To Burn all but “defined post-hardcore early in the decade”, while 2005’s Say Hello To Sunshine continued to shape its direction. The band honoured the demand for a celebration of What It Is To Burn’s 10th anniversary by reforming after a hiatus and playing select sold-out shows across the country in 2013.
Inspired by the creative surge brought on by these shows, Finch turned their attention to Back To Oblivion, their long-awaited third LP and a new, bold chapter in the band’s legacy. This is Finch reinvigorated, brimming with the inspiration of their earliest days, and challenging themselves by going deep into the unknown – the result is far & away the band’s most introspective and demanding work from a lyrical standpoint. The album was produced by Brian Virtue (Deftones, 30 Seconds To Mars, Jane’s Addiction, Audioslave).
