‘1000HP’ will be released on September 1st via Spinefarm Records, and is available for pre-order at the following links:-
Since the release of their self-titled debut (1998), the Boston quartet – Sully Erna (lead vocals / guitar), Shannon Larkin (drums), Robbie Merrill (bass) & Tony Rombola (lead guitar) – have notched up a remarkable set of facts ‘n’ stats in the US and beyond: these include 4 Grammy nominations, 4 Platinum Awards, 20 million records sold, 3 consecutive US #1 albums, unmatched airplay records at radio, and many more…
“I think you can hear a real hunger in the sound,” says Erna. “We’re all pretty fired up at the moment, and that extends to taking our music overseas. It’s time to give some real focus to our touring activities outside of North America, and we think this new single will make our intentions clear. It’s one for the fans, and that means our fans everywhere…”
Produced & mixed by Dave Fortnam (Slipknot, Evanescence, etc.) working closely with Erna, ‘1000HP’ (the album) was recorded in Godsmack’s new HQ just 30 minutes from the heart of Boston, and the band’s calling-card weight, groove, power and spiritual tone are in evidence throughout, tempered here an’ there by more reflective moments, and – in certain cases – something of a new drift.

EAST ASIA’s premier Metallers, CHTHONIC, return to the Wacken Open Air festival on Friday, August 1st, and this time they’re not coming alone…
For their third appearance at Germany’s premier metal event, CHTHONIC – based in Taiwan – will celebrate their first-ever main-stage appearance (the ‘Black Stage’) by combining their exotic brand of hard rock with the Chai Found Oriental Orchestra, who perform using a variety of traditional instruments, including hena, ruan, box zither, pipa, yangqin, flute & sheng.
The Chai Found Oriental Orchestra is an award-wining group who have appeared onstage with CHTHONIC in the past, performing four songs at a selection of concerts in Taiwan; these special events were duly recorded / filmed, and form the basis of CHTHONIC’s ‘Ián-bú’ DVD, released in February of this year.
For the 45-minute Wacken show, however, the orchestra will be expanded from four musicians to 10, to make the overall experience that much greater – ‘Orient Metal’ meets traditional Asian musicians, with both sides delivering to the max!
“We are very much looking forward to returning to Wacken,” says CHTHONIC bassist, Doris Yeh. “It’s a legendary festival with a great history, and we see this as a very important stage in our music career. We've been using lots of traditional sounds over the past seven studio albums… this time, we will bring both an oriental orchestra plus a VJ to play the show! We hope to give fans a truly unforgettable memory!”
In addition to the Wacken appearance, CHTHONIC have a number of other major festivals lined up for the summer, including Brutal Assault (Czech Republic) and Summer Sonic (Tokyo & Osaka, Japan); last year, the band played more than 70 concerts in Europe and the US, and previously they have appeared at Ozzfest (US), Fuji Rock & Loud Park (Japan) and Download & Bloodstock (UK).
Once their summer touring schedule is complete, CHTHONIC – who have played more than 500 concerts in the past 10 years – will return to Taiwan to start work on a new movie project (a comedy in which the band members play themselves), after which pre-production for the next studio album will kick in.
With CHTHONIC, there’s never a dull moment – and certainly never a quiet one!
FIRST LISTEN TO MUSIC FROM FORTHCOMING ALBUM “TIME TO DIE”
Electric Wizard, who recently revealed the title and artwork for their Spinefarm Records debut album, premiere the first new music from “Time to Die” with the song "I am Nothing", streaming now via the Spinefarm Records Soundcloud…
EW guitarist / vocalist Jus Oborn has said of the track, which harnesses the dark underground death metal spirit of 1984:-
"It was the year I became a metal-head. It was heavy shit for real – there was no way you were ever going to get a decent job. So I became a Satanist, I dug up a grave, I got into tape-trading, I had a one-man noise/black/death metal band called Regurgitated Guts, and there were loads of documentaries on TV warning us not to listen to the devil's music..."
Produced by Oborn, the new album was recorded at Toe Rag Studios in East London, with analogue gear used exclusively throughout, with finishing touches done at Skyhammer Studio in "deepest, darkest" Cheshire by Chris Fielding.
Having just performed at the UK’s Sonisphere festival earlier this month, flamboyant Finnish rockers RECKLESS LOVE have announced a headline run of UK dates for December 2014!
RL frontman, Olli Herman, says;-
“Our recent visit to the UK was very much a case of ‘Flying Finns’ – we were there for a headline show in Bristol, plus a festival appearance at Sonisphere – it was our first time at Knebworth, and we had an amazing show! Thanks to everyone who packed out the Bohemia tent! And now… we’re delighted to announce a more extended return in December – seven (magnificent) dates that will see us pushing everything that bit further… harder, faster, louder, bigger and higher… kicks! Ha! Ha!”
"A dream became reality the moment we stepped onstage at the super legendary Knebworth Park,” continues RL guitarist, Pepe. “The atmosphere was hot and welcoming as the UK crowd showed yet again just how well they know our lyrics, singing along with each song we played! And now we are excited to be bringing our merry metal mayhem back to our dear friends in the UK. December will TRULY rock this year! See you on tour!!"
