Artificial Heart is a 5-piece metal/hardcore outfit from Tuusula, Finland. Originally formed in the late 2008, the quintet has been active with the current line-up since 2009 when vocalist Matias Jyläskoski joined the band. Their music can be described as aggressive and melancholic, yet modern metal, spiced with elements from hardcore and catchy clean sung choruses and delivered with a youthful exuberance and energy more contagious and lethal than the Marburg Virus.
Artificial Heart has released two promotional EP's, "Deliverance" in July of 2010 and "Broken Bones & Buried Dreams" in April of 2011. Quickly after the release of "Deliverance" EP, they started to gain some attention both domestically and abroad, but it was the second promo that got the ball truly rolling.
In the winter 2010/2011 Artificial Heart were hand-picked out of 250 bands to perform at the finals of the Suomi Metal Star 2011 contest, arranged by Century Media Records at the Finnish Metal Expo/Helsinki Metal Meeting, and in July 1st of the same year the band got the coveted support gig of Pennsylvania metalcore heroes August Burns Red in Nosturi, Helsinki.
In September 2011, Artificial Heart recorded 2 new songs, "My Confession" & "Our Conclusion" at Ansa Studio, Ulvila, Finland (Circle Of Contempt, We Are the Illusion). In January 2012 the recording deal with Spinefarm records was signed and February 2012 saw the band receive the 2011 Finnish Metal Award for "Broken Bones & Buried Dreams" as the Metal Demo of the Year in Finland - chosen not by a team of stiff judges but the general metal-listening public.
Ergo, the band returned to Ansa studio to finish what would become their debut album “A Heart Once Lost”, in August of 2012. Now, the leading single/video of the album's title track has been released January 10th, 2013.
The debut full-length will be released March 19th via Spinefarm Records/Universal Music and the unsuspecting public will have the law laid down for them at Helsinki's The Circus, where Artificial Heart will perform as the supporting act of German bulldozers Heaven Shall Burn.
